This year’s celebration featured a captivating Drone Light Show as its centerpiece. A live narration accompanied the drones as they moved in the night sky, forming images that told the story of Santorini.

The display began with a depiction of the island’s formation through a volcanic eruption and then shifted to celebrate local culture and gastronomy. The drones created images of ancient coins and murals, as well as modern symbols of the island’s identity, such as tomatoes, grapes, and wine.

The main event culminated in a dramatic fireworks show that lit up the entire caldera. Organized by the Municipal Enterprise GEOTHIRA MAE, the show was a virtual re-enactment of a volcanic eruption, launched from the volcano itself, located over three kilometers away from the viewing area.

Pyrotechnic experts crafted a dynamic program of smoke, bangs, and lava-like explosions. The show concluded with fireworks that slowly drifted down by parachute, captivating the audience from start to finish.
